After more than seven hours of searching under the rubble, Cairo Civil Defense Forces successfully rescued a young girl injured in the collapse of two buildings in Hadayek al-Qobba area.
She was transferred to hospital for treatment, bringing the total number of survivors to 14, with three deaths so far.
The Civil Defense Forces, Central Rescue Forces and Cairo Governorate agencies are continuing the search to ensure there are no other people trapped under the collapsed buildings.
Cairo Governorate’s National Emergency and Public Safety Network Control Center and the governorate’s Central Operations Room received a report that two buildings had collapsed on early Friday morning.
The Cairo Governor immediately moved to the site, accompanied by Civil Defense Forces, ambulances, security leaders, and all executive agencies in the governorate, to follow up on the rescue operations for the residents of the two buildings.
One of the buildings consists of a ground floor and five floors and is unoccupied, while the other consists of a ground floor and four floors.
The adjacent building, #18, was evacuated as a precaution until it was confirmed that it was not damaged by the collapse.
