Hi, friends! Ms. Rachel, real name Rachel Accurso, has been prominently featured in the households of many young parents thanks to her YouTube channel, “Songs for Littles.”
The former public school teacher turned children’s media mogul set out to create a show that would help language development in babies, toddlers and preschoolers after her own son struggled with a speech delay. Since 2020, she has gained 15.3 million subscribers — and over 11 billion views.
Donning her trademark pink shirt, overalls and headband, Ms. Rachel — alongside a cast of friends, including her husband and music director, Aron Accurso — sings, talks, whispers and laughs on screen, captivating the little ones watching with her high-pitched tone and wide smile.
“My value is I can help kids and find out-of-the-box ways to help kids,” she said of realizing her calling on Today in 2024. “That changed my life. It was so transformative.”

Ms. Rachel Has 2 Kids of Her Own
Ms. Rachel married Broadway music director and composer Aron Accurso in July 2016. They welcomed their first child, son Thomas, in March 2018 — who inspired her to create “Songs for Littles” after he struggled with a speech delay.
Thomas is now “ahead cognitively,” Ms. Rachel told Today.
“He’s worked so hard. He’s so brilliant. He was reading before he could speak that well,” she added, noting that it took Thomas more than two years to say “mama” so, whenever she hears him call for her, it’s “music to [her] ears.”
She added, “I always make sure he knows how much I just love being his mom, and how I feel so lucky to be his mom.”
In April 2025, Ms. Rachel announced that she and her husband welcomed a second child via surrogacy, a daughter named Susannah.
“Sometimes timing isn’t what you plan and the road to get there is bumpier than you expect, but when you hold your little ones you know … I’m meant to be your mama,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “I was unable to carry this pregnancy for medical reasons and we were blessed to have a surrogate who gave us the most precious gift possible. We are now all family forever. We have immense gratitude and a deep bond. It’s been a truly beautiful experience. I’m in awe of her.”
Ms. Rachel Was Raised by a Single Mother
Ms. Rachel grew up in Biddeford and Sanford, Maine, with her sister and mom, who raised them on her own. (Her daughter, Susannah, is named after her mom.)
“She was incredible. She’d set her mind to something and just do it. It’s such an extraordinary example to watch her,” Ms. Rachel told Drew Barrymore in September 2024. “It’s why I think in my life I’ve been like, ‘I want to try this. I want to make this show. And I’m just going to do it.’ She built us a treehouse. I don’t know how. She went back to finish college. She worked at a daycare during the week and Pizza Hut as a waitress on the weekends. She went back and got a master’s — and viewing that was extraordinary as a child.”
Ms. Rachel attended Sanford High School and the University of Southern Maine, where she studied music, and earned her own master’s degree in music education from New York University. She worked as a music teacher at a public preschool before launching her YouTube channel in 2019. She is almost finished with a second master’s in early childhood education.

In a TikTok posted in January 2023, Ms. Rachel revealed that her quintessential look came together on a whim.
“I started ‘Songs for Littles’ as in-person baby-toddler classes in New York City. And my son was a baby at the time and my hair was, like, never washed and it was always just doing something. I was like, ‘Let me just put on a headband because I don’t have time to wash or do anything with this.’ So, that’s why I wore a headband all the time,” she explained in the clip.
She added that the overalls came about because, when she taught in person, they made her feel “childlike and fun.”
And the pink T-shirt? “I’ve always loved pink,” Ms. Rachel said. “I just think it’s a really pretty color.”
Ms. Rachel Is an Advocate for Children’s Rights
Ms. Rachel is an ambassador for organizations like Save the Children and Room to Grow, which aim to support and educate kids and families during their critical early years. She works to ensure that all children have access to high-quality early childhood education.
In 2024, she offered to make videos on Cameo, with all revenue from the clips going to Save the Children’s emergency fund — mentioning the Gaza Strip, Sudan, Ukraine and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
On her social media platforms, the educator has been outspoken about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza that has taken shape since Israel began its military response to Hamas’ deadly attack in October 2023.
“It’s sad that people try to make it controversial when you speak out for children that are facing immeasurable suffering,” Ms. Rachel said in an interview with journalist Mehdi Hasan, founder of the independent publication Zeteo, in May 2025.
Ms. Rachel Has a Toy Line
Ms. Rachel’s toddler and baby learning videos sparked the development of a toy line with Spin Master.
Designed to help children reach developmental milestones by learning through play, the hot new selections are based on some of Ms. Rachel’s beloved characters and songs and include products like a Tummy Time Activity Bus, Sensory Take-Along Toy and a Learning Farm.
“Learning through play is an incredibly powerful and fun way to help children reach important developmental milestones, including potty-training,” Ms. Rachel said in a press release. “We loved watching our community’s reaction to our first toys. Our new toys support new skills, and I hope little ones and their caregivers will enjoy playing along.”
She can also be seen in the grocery aisle as she scored her first-ever packaged food deal with Stonyfield Organic Yogurt in 2025.
