Firefighters work to contain 50 acre Mission Fire east of I-680 near Fremont ...Middle East

Firefighters were working Monday afternoon to contain a 50-acre blaze that ignited in the remote area just east of Fremont, according to Cal Fire.

Fire officials providing an air attack said the Mission Fire has the potential to reach 75 acres. It was first reported around 1:30 p.m. near the 3500 block of Morrison Canyon Road.

Two air tankers have been released to douse the fire from above. There were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage to structures.
