Vince Marrow has officially crossed rivalry lines, leaving Kentucky after more than a decade to take the general manager position at Louisville. It’s a significant loss for the Wildcats and a major addition for Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals program.
Marrow had spent the last 13 years on the staff of Mark Stoops as the associate head coach and tight ends coach. He was a major catalyst in recruiting for the program, and now he’s joining an in-state rival in a stunning move.
While he is leaving Lexington, Marrow wanted to address UK fans in a video that dropped on Monday. In that brief video, Marrow wanted to express his appreciation for BBN.
“I want to talk to you guys at Big Blue Nation. I really love you guys and I really really appreciate you because you guys helped me build my career here with your support,” said Marrow.

Ultimately, Marrow said he took a lot of pride in trying to develop Kentucky after some naysayers cautioned him about taking the UK job ahead of 2013. After passing over other job opportunities along the way, he referenced the move to Louisville as one that is simply right for his career at this time, but his love for BBN carries on.
“I wanted to build and bring players in so we could win and have some pride and dignity. It is hard, I’m not even going to sugarcoat it to you, it is hard because of my loyalty to you guys, the fans,” Marrow said. “But this is a job opportunity I feel I can’t pass up, and I’ve passed up several other ones, you guys as the fans know… I’m doing what’s best for my career. I really enjoyed being here for 13 years with you guys… I’m pretty sure y’all gonna boo me when I come back, though.”
