24 hours after Indiana Fever‘s Caitlin Clark had delivered her own latest statement game but fallen just short of a triple-double, longtime rival Reese put up the first triple-double of her early career.
The Bayou Barbie had 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in a 78-66 win over the Connecticut Sun.
It is the second triple-double of the WNBA season, the first coming from Clark earlier in the year, against Reese’s Sky and makes Reese the second youngest player in league history – after Clark – to record the feat.
For Reese, most notably, she added points to the rebounds and assists totals that had been the hallmark of her season so far.
The 23-year-old leads the league in the rebounds category, averaging 11.8 for the season and it had prompted her critics to question her numbers.
Especially with Sky struggling for wins, but Reese has also been quick to deliver a timely response – and it started on her social media channels.
On Saturday, Reese had posted a string of videos to her TikTok account, the most notable came when she addressed her critics.
“Whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing, y’all ate that up,” she said.
“Because mebounds, crebounds, keybounds, tebounds… anything that comes off the board, it’s mine.”

“When y’all came up with mebounds — cause, statistically, all the rebounds I get aren’t always just mine. They’re the defenses, too, or somebody else’s on my team — but when y’all came up with mebounds, y’all [ate].”

Reese is one of the most marketable names in the WNBA, and already has endorsement deals with Reebok, Beats by Dre, Wingstop, Xfinity, Raising Cane’s, Panini America, and Reese’s.
Along with her own podcast, it has helped her amass a net worth of around $2million, building on her NIL earnings during her time at LSU.
Famously Reese has been critical of her WNBA rookie contract, which is worth just $324,383 over four years.
She topped up her earnings by joining the offseason ‘Unrivaled’ league set up by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.
Talks are underway on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, which will due to come into play at the end of this season and is expected to see WNBA salaries jump in line with a reported $2billion broadcast deal.
Having bagged a W, even her franchise got in on the act, posting a message after victory on Sunday afternoon on their social channels.
“oh what did y’all say about mebounds?” they posted, while Reese was joined by Hayley van Lith in the postgame media availability to celebrate her achievements.
