South Africa lift Test Mace

South Africa’s wait for an ICC trophy has ended. 27 years after winning the Champions Trophy, the Proteas have beaten Australia to win the WTC Final 2025 and lift the Test mace. Incredible performance by Aiden Markram, 136 while chasing 282, earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ while Temba Bavuma and Kagiso Rabada also shined.

BCCI releases 2025-26 domestic schedule

BCCI has released the entire schedule for the 2025-26 domestic season. The Duleep Trophy will kick off the season on August 28, which will be followed by the Irani Cup, Ranji Trophy first leg, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Ranji Trophy second leg. Gill thrown Indian Test captaincy

Yuvraj Singh’s first coach and father, Yograj Singh, doesn’t think the transition in the Indian Test team happened correctly. He thinks that the captaincy baton wasn’t passed from Rohit Sharma but rather thrown towards Shubman Gill. Yograj thinks the senior pros should have played for longer to ensure youngsters have established themselves.

IND vs NZ before T20 World Cup

The BCCI has announced dates for a 5-match T20I series between India and New Zealand in January, a few days before the T20 World Cup 2026 starts in India. The five games will be played at different venues and could help the home side prepare to defend their title.

The BCCI has approached the ECB regarding the renaming of the Pataudi Trophy to the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The move has received pushback in India, although BCCI has nothing to do with it. So the Indian board has urged the ECB to name a post-match trophy after Pataudi to honour him.

WTC Final venue fight

The ECB/England are front-runners to host the next three WTC Finals in 2027, 2029 and 2031. Although the BCCI/India have shown interest in hosting the final showdown, the fact that a match between Australia and South Africa was completely sold out in England gives the ECB a major advantage.
