ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A stationary front still lingering over the area for the weekend will tend to give us a split forecast, but overall it isn’t a bad forecast. In fact, it has been trending drier for Father’s Day weekend! That being said, we will see some showers moving in Friday night and last into early Saturday morning. The most persistent showers will tend to be south of the Thruway in the Finger Lakes region. Areas north of Rochester may stay dry on Saturday morning. Regardless, any showers will pull away early, and we’ll see some nice clearing in the sky, especially north of the Thruway. Much like Saturday, Sunday will feature more clouds south and more sun north of the Thruway. This may keep temperatures down a few degrees in the Finger Lakes, but much of the region should climb back into the lower 70s after being in the 60s on Saturday.
A pattern change will begin to take shape next week, with a ridge building in. This means temperatures will start to climb through the 70s on Monday, and into the 80s for much of the rest of next week. Humidity will also start to creep up, allowing some isolated showers and a few storms both Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Our best chance for more widespread storms will come on Thursday with the arrival of a cold front. This cold front will also knock the humidity back for Friday, providing a very comfortable and fair start to the Jazz Festival and the start of summer!
