ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A police chase that went through parts of Monroe County Thursday led to a crash, which left a 10-year-old boy injured.

Rochester Police say at around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, they responded to Van Stallen Street for a report of a robbery. According to police, the 53-year-old victim stated he was heading to his car when the suspect, a 41-year-old man hit him from behind with an unknown object, causing him to fall to the ground.

Police then say the suspect went into the victims car and took off. They say the car was seen shortly after by New York State Police on Bridge View Drive, where they tried to pull the car over, but the car failed to stop.

According to police, the car got lost on Route 104, but they then saw the car in Irondequoit on Rawlinson Street and tried to initiate a traffic stop, where the car again failed to stop, resulting in another police chase.

Police say during this chase, the car was heading south on St. Paul Street when it tried to squeeze between two other cars, where a 10-year-old was in one of the cars. The boy was brought to Strong Memorial Hospital for his injuries.

After the crash, police say the stolen car continued south on St. Paul Street, until the car hit a sign and a tree. The suspect tried to run away but was quickly apprehended by officers.

The suspect and one officer were both brought to local hospitals for minor injuries. No charges have been given yet.
