“There was a huge bang just seconds after takeoff. I ran through smoke and fire," local reports have him saying after he was taken to hospital. Unfortunately, he was seated near his brother, who is missing.

Some online sources are saying he jumped from the plane but I find that incredibly difficult to believe as the timeline for recognizing a problem, unbuckling, opening the door, jumping out and surviving a fall at 160 km/h is dubious. Then again, so is surviving this crash at all.

Full footage of the entire flight is now out and it's 45-second long at most. It shows a slow moving plane lifting off and the slowly falling without any obvious signs of what went wrong.

Shares of Boeing have recovered to -3.8% on what might be optimism that it wasn't mechanical failure on the Dreamliner.
