Berhampur: In an effort to enhance road safety, Berhampur Police conducted a special drive targeting drunken driving, triple riding, and other traffic violations across all police stations on June 10 and 11.
The two-day operation resulted in the detection of 73 violations, including 26 cases of drunken driving and 47 instances of triple riding and mobile phone use while riding.
During the drive, 26 individuals were found driving under the influence of alcohol beyond permissible limits. Criminal cases have been registered against them, and their vehicles have been seized.
The Traffic Police led with 9 drunken driving cases, followed by Badabazar Police Station with 5, Town Police Station with 4, Jarada Police Station with 3, and Digapahandi Police Station with 2.
Additionally, 47 violations involving triple riding and mobile phone use while riding were recorded, with criminal cases filed and vehicles seized in each instance.
Meanwhile, Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M has urged the public to adhere to traffic regulations and support the police administration’s efforts to ensure safer roads for all.
