Josh Duhamel is ready to return to Ransom Canyon.
The actor, 52, gave Us Weekly an exclusive update on season 2 of the hit Netflix series after presenting the Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters of Station 88 with a new Bobcat UV34XL utility vehicle.
“I know that they’ve been writing,” Duhamel revealed about the show while discussing Bobcat Company’s “Work Worth Doing” campaign. “They’ve been in the writer’s room now for several months writing the second season, but that doesn’t mean [Netflix] is necessarily going to pick it up.”
Led by showrunner April Blair, Ransom Canyon follows Duhamel’s Staten Kirkland as he fights for his ranch and the people he loves. While an official season 2 renewal is still up in the air, Duhamel did share his hopes for the show’s future. The Transformers actor wants the series, which also stars Minka Kelly as dancehall owner Quinn O’Grady, to maintain its unpredictability and edginess.

“April Blair does an amazing job with running the show so I’d imagine they’re coming up with something fun,” Duhamel said. “I think the romance stuff [with Kelly’s character Quinn] is really fun, but I want to keep it unpredictable. A little bit dangerous at times; doing things that the audience may not always agree with.”
Duhamel stressed that Canyon’s story lines have to “come from a place that is believable,” adding that “everything’s got to happen for a reason.”
The actor spoke to Us after he surprised Station 88 firefighters with a $20,000 Bobcat UTV, a much-needed tool to support the crew as they fight future fires on the ground. The firefighting unit, who battled the early 2025 LA wildfires, is the LAFD’s first-ever full-time, paid hand crew.

“I really do have such mad respect for what they do,” Duhamel explained after gifting the crew with swag bags and lunches in partnership with Bobcat. “I’m so grateful for the work they do because anybody who lives here understands that we need a strong crew of firefighters. Whenever I get a chance to help support them, whether it’s a charity or with Bobcat giving away the UTV, it’s a great cause.”
