ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Bruce, the crowd-favorite dog that fetches bats for Rochester Red Wings players, is set to make his big league debut.

Bruce will fetch bats for the Washington Nationals on Saturday at an MLB game at Nationals Park. The parent team for the Red Wings will take on the Miami Marlins. The first pitch is at 1:05 p.m.

Bruce has fetched bats at Innovative Field since last September, raising money to support Honor Flight Rochester and the Veterans Outreach Center. In just three appearances this season, he’s fetched over 40 bats.

For every bat Bruce fetches, a local organization donates $100 to support veterans. Bruce’s official merchandise also supports the campaigns. If you want to see Bruce closer to home, there are “Meet & Pet” sessions on July 6 and August 19 at Innovative Field.

Bruce is carrying on the legacy of Milo, the Red Wings’ bat dog who died in 2023. Bruce can be seen at the following home games this season:
