STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. – On Monday evening, Bath Fire Units answered several calls from different areas of the town and village for flash flooding.
The heavy rainfall caused most roads along County Route 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, and State Route 54, 415 to be washed out. There were 23 weather-related calls and four non-weather-related calls.
They also responded to a sinking car on I-86 Westbound. A blue SUV was submerged after hydroplaning on water on the road.
No injuries were reported.
The Bath Fire Department offers the following tips during flash floods:
Your safety could depend on acting fast. Flash floods can happen with little or no warning.
Flash floods are sudden, powerful floods caused by heavy rainfall, dam breaks, or rapid snowmelt.
They can sweep away cars, destroy roads, and become deadly in minutes. Urban areas are especially at risk due to poor drainage.

Act immediately.
