Oklahoma has picked up another piece for its 2026 recruiting class.
Derrick Johnson II is the newest Sooner commitment. The talented defensive back verbally committed to play for Brent Venables‘ program on Tuesday.
Out of Murrieta (California) Valley High School, Johnson is listed as measuring 6-1 and 175 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Johnson is rated 3-stars, the No. 50 cornerback, No. 52 player in the state of California and No. 604 prospect overall in the Class of 2026.
Johnson was recruited by programs across multiple conferences, picking up 18 scholarship offers before pledging to Oklahoma. Nebraska, Utah, Kansas, TCU, Arizona, BYU, Minnesota, Michigan State, Oregon State and Purdue were among the programs that showed interest in Johnson. He told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that he chose Oklahoma over Washington, UCLA and TCU.
