University duo Will Korby and Gage Viken lead long list of local all-state baseball honorees ...Saudi Arabia

The Colorado High School Activities Association and MaxPreps announced their picks for all-state baseball teams Monday.

Predictably, local programs are well represented.

Senior Will Korby and junior Gage Viken earned Class 3A first-team honors after leading University to a 26-6 record and its fourth consecutive state tournament runner-up finish.

Eaton junior pitcher/infielder Gunnar Garrison and Resurrection Christian senior pitcher/first baseman Vaughn Green joined Viken and Korby on the 3A first team.

Teams were derived from votes by head coaches from throughout the state.

University junior Joel Ramirez was a 3A second-team selection.

A slew of local athletes earned 3A honorable mentions: Resurrection Christian sophomore pitcher/first baseman/outfielder Braedyn Budd, Fort Lupton senior first baseman/pitcher/outfielder Jesse Ceretto, Eaton senior pitcher/infielder Cooper Nider, Greeley Central senior Anthony Partida, Eaton senior pitcher/infielder Cash Rinker, Resurrection Christian senior catcher Bennett Rub, Valley senior pitcher/outfielder Anthony Soliz, University senior Kaden Turk and Weld Central sophomore catcher/infielder/pitcher Luke Witzel.

Windsor senior Ethan Fillinger was a 4A first-team selection. Severance’s Kolton Beidleman was a 4A honorable mention, as were Roosevelt junior pitcher/first baseman Israel Castillo, Severance’s Auggie Dominguez, Windsor senior Mason Jordan, Windsor senior Grant Kerber, Roosevelt junior pitcher/center fielder Brady Mylander and Roosevelt junior catcher Luke Unruh.

Dayspring Christian senior Gage Davis was a 2A first-team pick, as were his senior teammate Logan Vaniddekinge and Highland junior shortstop/pitcher Stetson Hendren.

Highland senior shortstop/second baseman/pitcher John Bingley was named to the 2A second team. Ditto for Platte Valley senior second baseman/pitcher Dagan Gomez, Highland senior shortstop/second baseman/pitcher Sawyer Morgan, Dayspring Christian senior Josiah Rodriguez and Platte Valley junior pitcher/first baseman Hazen Weber.

Dayspring Christian sophomore Gavin Bohl was a 2A honorable mention, as were his Eagles teammates senior Jeremiah Garza and sophomore Owen Steward.

Greeley West freshman pitcher/infielder/outfielder Nic Hernandez was a 5A honorable mention.

Prairie junior Brennon Bringelson and Briggsdale sophomore Jeremiah Sparks were 1A honorable mentions.
