ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Efforts to recover Zy’Jae St. Pierre, the 5-year-old boy who fell into the Genesee River, have entered a ninth day.
Rochester Police have been searching the river with scuba teams, drones, and foot patrols. The community has come together to help with the search and offer their support at a memorial on the Andrews Street Bridge, where the boy fell on Sunday, June 1. The boy was with his mother and younger sibling when he ran ahead, climbed over the railing on the bridge, and fell 50 feet.
News10NBC has reached out to RPD to learn what resources will be dedicated to the search this week. Last week, RPD worked with RG&E and other agencies to lower the river’s water level, including the water coming into Rochester from the Mt. Morris Dam.
RPD says any rumors on social media over the weekend claiming that Zy’Jae has been recovered are false. Check back for updates on the search.
