ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Every Sunday, News10NBC’s College Rundown spotlights two former Section Five athletes who are excelling at the collegiate level. This week, Avon’s Joleigh Crye and Pal-Mac’s Peyton Lich are featured.
Joleigh Crye, an Avon High School alum and a swimmer at Cincinnati, was named a first-team All-American. She finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Division I meet. Crye was also a Big 12 champion in the same event, clocking in at 58.09 seconds. Additionally, Crye secured second place in the 100-yard butterfly at the Big 12 Championships and competed in the 200-yard medley relay at the NCAA’s. Before attending Cincinnati, Crye excelled in softball, swimming, and track at Avon.
Peyton Lich, a Palmyra-Macedon graduate, had a standout freshman year at Ohio Northern. He was named the conference Freshman and Defensive Player of the Year. Lich set program records with 163 saves in a single season and 20 saves in a single game. He led the Polar Bears to the NCAA tournament this season.
