Just because Ginny & Georgia introduced a shocking pregnancy doesn’t mean the cast — or writers — know who the dad is as they head into season 4.
During season 3, which premiered on Thursday, June 5, Georgia (Brianne Howey) initially pretended she was expecting Paul’s (Scott Porter) baby while using daughter Ginny’s (Antonia Gentry) pregnancy test. He found out, they broke up and she later slept with her other love interest Joe (Raymond Ablack).
The season finale showed Georgia drinking dairy milk, which she previously told Ginny she only craved when pregnant. Despite Ginny & Georgia ending on the cliffhanger — and even though it is already renewed for season 4 — neither the cast nor the writers know who the dad could be.
“When we entered the season 4 writers’ room, I knew unequivocally without a doubt whose baby it was,” creator Sarah Lampert exclusively told Us Weekly. “I came into the writers’ room and I said, ‘Here’s whose baby it is. Change my mind.’ The writers’ room is phenomenal. Our writers are fantastic and truly it’s such a kinetic, live and ever-morphing thing.”
Best Love Triangles in TV and Movie History Over the Years
As a result, the decision potentially shifted along the way. “That’s what makes the show good is it really becomes alive at every stage of the process. But certainly in the writers’ room. So it wasn’t decided,” Lampert revealed. “They’ve changed my mind before. I’ll put it that way.”
She concluded: “Oh [we were] utterly divided. We went back and forth and back and forth. It was a full-on school debate effort. It was phenomenal because there’s pros and cons story wise to both — but there’s one clear answer and I’m not going to say what it is.”
Netflix / Courtesy Everett CollectionLuckily, Us went straight to the source. Ablack’s allegiance is to Joe, with him teasing, “In my heart, Joe is the father. But I don’t know. I have no idea. I’m as eager for episode 1 of season 4 as everyone else is to find that truth.”
Porter, 45, meanwhile, isn’t choosing sides just yet.
“With our writers and with all the curve balls they like to throw — not only at the audience but us actors — who knows what’s coming around the corner,” he noted to Us. “So I’ve got zero idea.”
According to Porter, Paul is less likely to believe Georgia the second time around.

“It’s one of those fool me once, fool me twice situations here. I think Paul is going to think long and hard about anything else that comes out of Georgia’s mouth,” he said. “It’s really heartbreaking that that’s the case. He asked her for so long to let him in, to just be honest with him and now it’s to the point where he can’t believe a word she says. That’s just heartbreaking to me.”
NETFLIXPorter added: “Hopefully they can get back to terms where at least they speak and they see each other again in a little bit of a positive light. But I don’t know if it’s possible.”
The rest of the cast is just as confused about what to expect. Diesel La Torraca, who plays Georgia’s son, Austin, cast his vote for Joe, telling Us, “I like him. He’s a really sweet guy. I like their history, their little Easter eggs and stuff. When they met and when they were teenagers — they are my endgame.”
Chelsea Clark threw Us for a loop with a secret third option.
“It would be wild if it was Zion’s [Nathan Mitchell] baby,” the actress, who plays Nora, joked about Ginny’s dad. “Let’s do a little throwback. I think we all know which way it’s leaning.”
Ginny & Georgia is currently streaming on Netflix.
