JooSang Yoo scored a Conor McGregor like knockout to kickstart UFC 316 in brutal fashion on Saturday night.
Yoo, who has been compared to a young McGregor, knocked out Jeka Saragih with a thunderous left hand only 28 seconds into the first round.
JooSang Yoo left Jeka Saragih motionless with a crazy left hookGetty ‘Zombie Jr’ celebrated in style after his knockout got UFC 316 underwayGettyThe KO has drawn comparisons to McGregor’s iconic stoppage over Jose Aldo at UFC 194 in December 2015.
Saragih overstretched with a right hand and soon found himself facedown on the canvas, as Yoo took one step back and floored him with a left hook.
“That was so clean!” UFC commentator Joe Rogan said on the broadcast live at the Prudential Center in New Jersey after the knockout.
“Oh my goodness that was so clean… what a left hook! Right out of the McGregor playbook.”
UFC fans had similar reactions to the South Korean’s finish as one took to X and said: “That was a wild knockout!”
A second added: “That was what I called a statement!”
While a third called for UFC CEO Dana White to splash the cash, saying: “Not bad for a UFC debut! $50k secured.”
Yoo put himself in prime position to earn a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus from his bosses following the knockout.
He earned his McGregor reputation fighting under the banner of ZFN, which is owned by legendary UFC fighter Chan Sung Jung, also known as ‘The Korean Zombie.’
The 31-year-old was immediately compared to the Irishman due to his confident, slick striking.

Joe Rogan couldn’t contain his emotions after the wild faceplant KOGettyHowever, during his post-fight press conference, Yoo addressed these comparisons, and it doesn’t seem like something he’ll be embracing anytime soon.
“Conor McGregor? No,” he said, speaking on the striking ‘blueprint’ of McGregor that Rogan and fellow pundit Daniel Cormier discussed ahead of his fight.
He later added that he ‘felt bad’ about the nasty knockout of Saragih.
Nonetheless, it was some way to make an impression on UFC bosses as Yoo is set for an imminent return to the Octagon.
This was his UFC debut, having impressed at ZFN, AFC and Brave CF, going unbeaten in his first eight MMA bouts.
His fight with Saragih was in the featherweight division, which is currently ruled by Australian great Alexander Volkanovski.
