Crews work to repair potholes on eastbound Interstate 70 on June 6, 2025.Traffic appeared to be moving slowly, sometimes coming to a stop. Drivers can expect delays in the area as the middle lane is being repaired and CDOT said it will take most of the day, but the road will reopen as soon as possible.
"CDOT crews immediately responded with lane closures, and contractor crews will work through the afternoon to make sustainable repairs to the pothole," the spokesperson said.
The bridge is under construction as part of the I-70 resurfacing work from Chief Hosa to Colfax.
The construction work takes place overnight and involves milling old asphalt down to the concrete surface to make permanent repairs as needed.
"As of early this morning when the contractor wrapped up the work shift, the crews did not see any damage to the bridge deck," the CDOT spokesperson told FOX31 on Friday.
The department said the two right lanes in the area will be closed while repair work is underway. In the meantime, eastbound traffic is being detoured via U.S. Highway 40.
