Barcelona need just three points from their remaining three games to seal the La Liga title after a dramatic 4-3 win over Real Madrid in an enthralling El Clásico.

Looking for a boost after their agonising Champions League semi-final loss to Inter on Tuesday, Barcelona responded with a massive victory that takes them closer to a 28th La Liga title.

Kylian Mbappé scored a hat-trick at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, but goals from Eric García, Lamine Yamal and a brace from Raphinha saw Hansi Flick’s men take all three points.

Mbappé put Madrid 2-0 ahead after just 14 minutes, but Barça turned things around to lead 3-2 just 20 minutes later, while Raphinha made it 4-2 before the break.

Mbappé completed his treble in the 70th minute, but Real Madrid were unable to take something from the game, leaving them seven points behind their rivals with just three games remaining.

The visitors had a penalty inside the first five minutes when Pau Cubarsí had his pocket picked by Mbappé, who was then brought down in the box by Wojciech Szczesny. The Frenchman picked himself up to dispatch the spot kick.

Mbappé had his second in the 14th minute when he was played in behind by Vinícius Júnior, and the former Paris Saint-Germain forward finished calmly past Szczesny.

Yamal almost halved the deficit straight away with a volley from the edge of the box, but Thibaut Courtois was able to tip it around the post.

García did find the net moments later, though, with a whipped corner flicked on by Ferran Torres at the near post, and the Barça defender headed in unmarked past Courtois.

The hosts were level just after the half-hour mark when Torres slipped the ball to Yamal, who expertly curled his effort inside the far post.

Not done there, Barcelona led after just 34 minutes when Pedri took the ball in midfield and played in Raphinha, who finished well past Courtois to send the home fans wild.

Madrid thought they had another penalty when Frenkie de Jong appeared to fell Mbappé in the box, but after a VAR check, offside was given against the Madrid striker.

Instead, it was Barça who found the next goal, with Raphinha robbing the ball from Lucas Vázquez before playing a one-two with Torres and firing into the net to make it 4-2.

The second half was less frantic, though Barça nerves were jangling again with 20 minutes remaining when substitute Luka Modric played a through ball for Vinícius, who squared for Mbappé to tap in his hat-trick goal.

Barcelona thought they were going to given a penalty when referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández was sent to the monitor by the video assistant referee following a suspected handball against Aurélien Tchouaméni when blocking a Torres shot, but the official was unmoved by the replays and stuck with his on-field decision of no penalty.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men were denied a dramatic late equaliser when Mbappé touched in Tchouaméni’s header, but he had done so from an offside position.

Fermín López scored a wonder goal for the hosts deep into stoppage time, cutting in from the left and hitting a shot too hot for Courtois to handle, but a VAR review saw it disallowed for a handball by the youngster in the build-up.

It mattered not for Barcelona, though, who held on for a massive three points that will go a long way to healing the wounds of Tuesday.
