The Greeley Historic Preservation Commission is inviting the community to celebrate Historic Preservation Month in May.

City staff members and the preservation commission are set to meet at 5 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Weld County Teen Center, 1407 2nd St., Greeley, to celebrate the winners of the Historic Preservation Month Award. Last May, the teen center opened in the historic Warnoco Building.

Stories about the Warnoco property are currently being collected at speakupgreeley.com. The preservation commission encourages the community to share stories there as well as at the May 19 event.

Other historic preservation events include a presentation about the Ku Klux Klan in Colorado in the 1920s at noon Thursday, May 22, at the Greeley History Museum, 714 8th St. Historian Meg Dunn will lead the presentation.

Greeley Historic Preservation videos, such as Windows of Time and neighborhood walking tours, will play on GTV8 throughout May. The videos will also be posted to the city’s Youtube, youtube.com/user/CityofGreeley.
