(KRON) -- All lanes have reopened after a vehicle fire in the eastbound bore of the Caldecott Tunnel shut down traffic Wednesday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol Oakland division said the burning car — a Jeep SUV — was occupied by an adult and a child. There have been no injuries reported.
Earthquake near Santa Rosa rattles North Bay Wednesday afternoonThe fire stopped traffic in Bore 1 and Bore 2 of the tunnel, but officials later said, "traffic should unclog soon." Bore 2 was reopened at 5:43 p.m. and Bore 1 was cleared shortly after 7 p.m.
At one point, the fire was approximately 400 feet into the tunnel, according to the Oakland Fire Department.
It is not yet known what caused the vehicle to catch on fire.
As of 4:40 p.m., the CHP advised that all lanes were blocked. The fire was put out at 4:55 p.m.
The CHP and Caltrans were at the scene with a tow truck and Oakland FD crews.
