Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly exited Sunday’s game versus the Chicago Cubs due to right leg cramping, the club announced.
After striking out Kyle Tucker in the sixth inning to retire his 16th batter in a row, Kelly threw a ball to Seiya Suzuki with two outs in the inning and showed some discomfort. Kelly walked around the mound, shaking out his right leg before exiting the game.
Righty reliever Ryne Thompson came into the game for Kelly and retired Suzuki to finish the inning.
