A vehicle caught fire on a highway in San Diego Tuesday, prompting at least two temporary lane closures, authorities said.
The fire was reported around 6 a.m. Tuesday on northbound State Route 163, just south of Balboa Avenue in Kearny Mesa, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the vehicle pulled over on the right shoulder of SR- 163, where flames underneath the car produced heavy smoke.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department arrived about 15 minutes later and quickly extinguished the flames, according to the CHP.
At least two lanes were temporarily closed while crews responded to the incident and cleared the scene.
A description of the vehicle was not available, and it was unclear what prompted the fire.
No injuries were immediately reported.
