Lane Kiffin does not want his Ole Miss team taking in any rat poison before the 2025 season.
An observation from ESPN’s Chris Low got the attention of Kiffin on Tuesday afternoon. Low noted SEC teams with multiple AP top-15 finishes since the 2020 COVID season, Kiffin’s first in Oxford. Georgia has enjoyed 4-straight, while Alabama and Ole Miss are next in line with 3 in 4 years. Tennessee has 2, while LSU and Mizzou have 1 each.
Kiffin called out Low’s post as rat poison, one of his favorite sayings he learned from his years in Tuscaloosa working for Nick Saban.

— Lane Kiffin (@Lane_Kiffin) March 25, 2025Ole Miss’s 3 top-15 finishes came in 2021, ’23 and ’24. The 2021 Rebels were Kiffin’s first team to double-digit wins, finishing the season 10-3 and No. 11 in the AP Top 25. The ’23 squad was Kiffin’s most accomplished so far, going 11-2 with a New Year’s Six victory in the Peach Bowl and finishing No. 9.
The Rebels entered the 2024 campaign with College Football Playoff expectations, but came up a bit short, going 9-3 in the regular season and picking up win No. 10 in the Gator Bowl. It was good enough to finish No. 11 in the AP poll.
Making it 4 in 5 years would be impressive, but Lane Kiffin and the Rebels are certainly hoping to finish even higher in 2025.
