While much attention was paid towards the UC San Diego men’s basketball team in its first-ever March Madness appearance, other Triton athletes were busy battling for a championship in fencing.
Thursday and Friday were when the men competed, and UC San Diego had two male representatives in Dayus Gohel and Sunny Sharma. Both Gohel and Sharma are epeeists, and the two (Gohel No. 18, Sharma No. 21) finished in the top-24 in Men’s Epee.
The fencing weekend is not over for the Tritons, as the women will compete Saturday and Sunday. Alexandra Cody, Katherine Kim and Alice Lan are the three Tritons competing.
Lan will compete first in epee action starting at 6 a.m. PST, followed by Kim competing in foil at 8 a.m. PST then finally Cody at 10:30 a.m. PST on saber.
