MCDONALD’S menu could see some changes soon, but some customers aren’t thrilled.
The fast food chain is in the middle of testing some products internationally with the potential of a release here in the States.

It truly is made of vegetables as well, with the ingredients for the patty including green beans, carrots, zucchini, and soybeans.
There’s also shredded lettuce and a mayo-based sauce on top.
Currently, the McVeggie is only available at McDonald’s restaurants in Canada, specifically British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick.
The test for the McVeggie, along with the Spicy Habanero McVeggie, which has the same ingredients but with a habanero sauce, is slated to end on April 14.
Should it be successful, there is potential for an expanded Canadian or even United States release in the coming months.
However, McDonald’s USA president Joe Erlinger noted at the Wall Street Journal Global Food Forum last year that the company thinks Americans aren’t looking for plant-based options from McDonald’s.
The U.S. Sun has contacted McDonald’s for more details.

Jeff Anderson, senior manager of culinary innovation at McDonald’s Canada, also emphasized that the McVeggie was designed for Canadian taste buds.
“While our guests may have tried similar sandwiches at McDonald’s globally, our McVeggie is uniquely Canadian,” Anderson noted in a statement.
“We’re always looking for new opportunities to innovate and build on our menu, and the McVeggie will give even more guests the opportunity to enjoy that delicious McDonald’s flavor Canadians know and love.”
Some customers who have already gotten their hands on the McVeggie this month issued mixed feedback.
One diner was upset about the Spicy Habanero McVeggie in particular, as they claimed the spicy sauce was “false advertising,” per a lengthy review on Reddit.
They also deemed the McVeggie patty “fine” and argued that the price didn’t offer “great value” compared to non-meat burgers from other chains.
Our goal is to continue to offer new and exciting choices to meet those needs. And the McVeggie does just that.
Francesca CardarelliChief Marketing Officer at McDonald's CanadaEven so, others said that the McVeggie was “appealing.”
“This review got me super excited to order mcveggie with bacon, cheese, and extra pickles,” a third commented in the thread.
TRY AGAIN
This wouldn’t be the first time that McDonald’s had brought a meat-free burger option to its customers, either.
The McPlant burger with a Beyond Meat patty, was tested in late 2021 in the United Kingdom and was later brought over to the United States.
McDonald’s emphasized the offering as a “healthier alternative” to traditional meat.
Rice, peas, potatoes, and several other ingredients are used in the Beyond Meat patties, made from the Los-Angeles based producer of meatless products.
At least 600 McDonald’s in the Dallas and San Francisco areas launched the McPlant.
While it initially saw promise in the United States, by the middle of 2022, McDonald’s decided it wasn’t selling enough to add it permanently to the menu.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the McPlant is still available, according to Food & Wine.
Some other burger tests from McDonald’s in recent years also sparked controversy.
The Double Big Mac hit menus again in January of last year and had some customers blasting it as the “worst burger” they’ve had from McDonald’s.
In 2023, McDonald’s also made significant adjustments to its burger recipe.
