MCSO: Lake County women arrested for burglarizing vehicles ...Middle East

Two Lake County women were arrested in Ukiah this week for allegedly burglarizing several vehicles, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the MCSO, deputies responded to the 3000 block of Estrella Court around 12:45 a.m. March 18 when it was reported that two suspicious subjects (were) entering people’s vehicles.”

When the deputies arrived, they reported seeing a woman, later identified as Sarah Simon, a 48-year-old resident of Lucerne, “driving a vehicle at a slow speed with all of the lights turned off.” After Simon was stopped by deputies, they reported seeing another woman “hiding behind a nearby vehicle in the driveway of a residence, who was identified as Elizabeth Arnold,” a 39-year-old Lucerne resident.

After the suspects were detained, the deputies reported checking the neighborhood and finding “multiple vehicles in the area with the doors open. Deputies contacted the homeowners where the vehicles were parked, and learned several items had been stolen from the vehicles. A search of Arnold, Simon, and their vehicle revealed numerous items that had just been stolen.”

The deputies also reported learning that “both Arnold and Simon were suspects in similar thefts of numerous items taken from vehicles in the nearby neighborhoods of West Fork Estates and Lake Mendocino Estates, which occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 18, 2025. Sheriff’s Office Detectives assisted with this investigation and gathered additional evidence and statements which led to the execution of search warrants for additional stolen property.”

Simon was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance, as well as an “active warrant for her arrest out of Lake County for petty theft with priors.” She was booked into Mendocino County Jail under $25,000 bail.

Arnold was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy and grant theft, and booked into county jail under $15,000 bail.
