AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A program in the works called Campus Guardian Angel uses drones as the first line of response against an active threat on a school campus.
The group behind the program is spending the week in Austin demonstrating how it works.

Activated via mobile app, 911 system or AI threat-prevention technology Professional pilots operate the drones remotely The drones' cameras can track a subject and lead law enforcement to them Drones also have ability to deploy pepper spray and flash bangsThey're meant to activate immediately to get a head start on neutralizing a campus threat, as well as supply additional help for law enforcement when officers do get there.
Currently, schools in Boerne ISD are the first to use this technology on a pilot basis. The current goal is to get the drones into schools across Texas, but Campus Guardian Angel is in the very early stages of introducing the program to schools.
