DENVER (KDVR) — Golden High School is currently on precautionary lockdown while police search the building after reports of a student with a firearm.
The Golden Police Department and Jefferson County's Department of School Safety are on scene at the high school on 24th Street after police said it received reports on Monday morning of a student potentially in possession of a firearm.

The school said it was put on lockdown at 8:15 a.m. The police department said students who arrived for classes were temporarily told to stay outside during the initial police response. Officers are now reviewing security footage as part of the investigation and the school is still on precautionary lockdown while authorities search the building.
The principal at Golden High School, John Graham, sent out an email saying they will communicate as soon as there is more information.
"Student safety is always our top priority, and we will continue to follow district safety procedures in any situation that arises," Graham said in an email.
