Israel to release 301 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for hostages’ remains ...Iraq

According toIsrael’s public broadcaster Kan, Tel Aviv will free half of the 602 prisonersplanned for release last Saturday in exchange for the hostages’ bodies withintwo days.

Israel’sChannel 12 said a proposal was on the table for Hamas to transfer the bodies oftwo Israeli hostages to Egypt in exchange for Israel releasing 301 Palestinianprisoners. If implemented successfully, the same arrangement could be repeatedfor two other deceased hostages, allowing Israel to release another 301prisoners as part of the final batch under the first phase of the Gazaagreement, the channel added.

Egypt hasplayed a key role in brokering the Gaza deal, negotiating for months alongsideQatar and the United States.
