(KRON) – The big three Bay Area cities made a top ten list for America’s culinary capital. San Francisco was crowned America’s food capital and Oakland was the first runner-up, according to a study by Clarify Capital.
Per the study, SF followed by Oakland has the highest ratio of mom-and-pop to chain restaurants and 46% of Americans prefer independently owned eateries.
Notable SF restaurants that have world-renowned buzz include House of Prime, 7 Adams and Tony’s Pizza Napoletana.
Newcomer restaurant, Four Kings, has been recognized by the New York Times, Esquire and Bon Appétit before the Cantonese establishment hit its one-year anniversary.

More than half of the top ten list is in California: San Diego (4), Los Angeles (5), Anaheim (6), San Jose (7) and Irvine in the ninth spot.
