As T20 leagues continue to grow, several IPL franchises have been acquiring teams in various leagues across the world. The Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions of the IPL, have followed this trend and acquired teams in the USA (MI New York), South Africa (MI Cape Town), and the UAE (MI Emirates).
"RISE will have a 49 per cent share of the Hundred team, with Surrey retaining the majority 51 per cent. The club hopes to benefit from Mumbai Indians' vast experience and proven success, fresh off lifting yet another league title in South Africa over the weekend, to further strengthen and maintain the team's position as the leading franchise in the competition," the county said in a statement.
Mumbai Indians have won five titles in the Indian Premier League. MI has also won other prestigious trophies across multiple competitions, including the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, Major League Cricket (2023), ILT20 (2024), and SA20 (2025).
