Year 11 of the Liverpool-based high school are returning to class but also to their wayward ways.

Nana Hughes, ITV’s head of comedy said: “It is great to see that G’wed has resonated with our audiences across ITVX, ITV1 and ITV2!

Many of the original main cast are back for a second series and fans of the shown will be pleased to learn a third series is also in the pipeline.

G’wed (a Scouse abbreviation for “go ahead” or “yeah”) is a sitcom about a group of Liverpudlian teenagers growing up and getting to grips with the realities of life from relationships and sex to class division and race.

Season one saw charming chancer Reece (Dylan Thomas-Smith) take newcomer Christopher (Jake Kenny-Byrne) under his wing, bridging the class divide.

Season two promises more of the complications of everyday life for teenagers, exploring themes such as consent, age gap relationships and the acceptable way to make money while still at school.

Dylan Thomas-Smith leads the cast as the young chancer Reece, who is often in trouble but has hidden depths.

Aside from G’wed, he has appeared in the Channel 4 thriller The Gathering.

Jake Kenny-Byrne

Byrne had appeared in Doctors and the ITV crime drama Endeavour before G’wed.

Max Ainsworth plays the role of Connor, one of the gang of boys who is friends with Reece.

He is also about to appear in a new thriller Wings.

Season two sees him start dating a sixth-former and become the envy of the school.

When is G’wed season 2 on TV?

The remaining four episodes will be shown over successive Thursday evenings at the same time.
