Arizona Wildcats guard Caleb Love was named the Big 12 Player of the Week following his performances in wins over Iowa State and rival Arizona State, the league announced on Monday.
Love, the first-ever Wildcat to earn the Big 12 weekly honor, averaged 24.5 points per game as No. 20 Arizona (15-6, 9-1 Big 12) moved to the top of the league standings and into the Associated Press men’s basketball top 25 poll after a lengthy absence.
Love hit a halfcourt shot to send the Iowa State game into overtime, in which the Wildcats snagged a 86-75 upset win over the then-No. 3 Cyclones. Love finished the game with 22 points, scoring eight of the 15 points Arizona scored in overtime.
