Comedian and actor Brian Regan, who’s performed in Greeley twice in the past 18 years, will return for his third time Thursday night.
Regan will make his long-awaited return starting at 7 p.m. at the Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave.
“It’s a dream come true,” Regan said. “When I was a little boy, I remember asking my mom and dad at the dinner table, ‘Mom, Dad, do you think there will ever be a chance in my life that I’ll be able to go Greeley, Colorado?’
“My parents would go, ‘You have to dream big for that, son.'”
The playful comment is a taste of what his show entails. The comedian who Vanity Fair called “the funniest stand-up” alive has been touring across the country and has established a 30-year career. Regan not only does stand-up but also co-stars in the show “Loudermilk,” in which he plays a character named Mugsy.
The show’s first two seasons aired on AT&T’s Audience Network but moved to Netflix in January 2024. The third season premiered on Amazon Prime.
He also has two Netflix stand-up specials to go along with his touring, which takes him to more than 100 cities yearly. He last performed in Greeley in 2010.
Regan said the Vanity Fair title is flattering but weird at the same time because he doesn’t take the stage to gain such notoriety.
“I never think of comedy as competition, you know? I don’t get on stage to be funnier than anybody else or be the funniest person out there,” he said. “I just want to be as funny as I can be on stage.”
Before coming to Greeley, he performs in Aspen. The jokes write themselves. After leaving Greeley, he heads south to Denver and then Beaver Creek.
A veteran of touring, Regan feels fortunate and humble that he is at a point in his career that allows him to travel in comfort. From first-class flights to a tour bus, he acknowledged the way he travels allows him to enjoy being on the road.
At some point, though, he may pump the breaks on his career, he said.
“Who knows? Maybe soon people will see less of me,” he continued. “And that would be a treat for the world to see less of Brian Regan.”
