Two members of the University of Northern Colorado Board of Trustees were reappointed to the nine-person board last month by Colorado Gov. Jared Polis as part of multiple end-of-year boards and commissions appointments.
Dr. Brenda Campos-Spitze and UNC alumnus Dick Monfort were reappointed for four-year terms through Dec. 31, 2028, the governor’s office announced in mid-December.
Campos-Spitze, a Greeley resident and family physician at Sunrise Community Health, was initially appointed to the UNC board in June 2024 to fill the vacancy with the resignation of Patricia Barela Rivera.
Campos-Spitze is also a member of the advisory board for UNC’s proposed college of osteopathic medicine and she sits on Greeley-Evans School District 6 Board of Education.

Monfort for 25 years worked in the cattle business in Colorado. His father, Kenneth Monfort, was CEO of Monfort, Inc., the family meatpacking and cattle company founded by Warren Monfort, Kenneth’s father.
The Monfort College of Business at UNC was named for Ken Monfort in the late 1990s. Monfort Elementary in District 6 was named for the Monfort family
Dick Monfort has held leadership positions on public and philanthropic boards including serving as chairman of the Colorado Economic Development Commission, the board of directors of the University of Colorado Health and he’s a member of the college of business dean’s leadership council.
The other members of the UNC board of trustees are: Stephen Jordan, Gregory Anton, Maia Babbs, student trustee Keegan Bradley, Shashwata Prateek Dutta, faculty trustee Fritz Fischer, a professor of history, and Annette Martinez.
Jordan, Anton, Prateek Dutta and Martinez are also UNC graduates.
