A Windsor High School student received a national grant to create a required FFA project.

Bo Stone, chairman of the Farm Credit Council, awarded Emma Starck of Windsor High School’s FFA chapter with a $1,000 Equine Breeding Supervised Agricultural Experience grant, according to an FFA news release.

All FFA members must complete supervised agricultural experience projects. These grants help FFA members create or expand their projects — either creating or operating an agriculture-related business, working at an agriculture-related business or conducting an agricultural research experience.

After completing the project, members submit a comprehensive report about their career development experience, the release said.

Grant applicants must be in grades 7-12 and demonstrate a need for financial assistance. This year, Starck competed with 1,238 applicants nationwide, according to the release.

The National FFA Organization, a school-based national youth leadership organization, has more than 1,027,200 student members and 9,235 local FFA chapters.
