The spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, denied rumors about the closure of the Egyptian embassy in Syria.
“We have a chargé d’affaires at the embassy, the embassy has not closed, and it plays important roles in helping our Syrian brothers, such as with delivering Egyptian aid to Syria,” he stressed.
During a Sunday phone-in with Egyptian TV host Lamis al-Hadidi on her show “Last Word” (Kalema Akhera), Khallaf assured that Egypt will continue to follow the tremendous political developments in Syria.
Egypt is eager to ensure that Syria does not pose a threat to the countries of the region or become an incubator for terrorism, he added.
