Three Humvees, more than a dozen bayonets and other items were taken from a storage warehouse and parking lot at the Army Reserve Center in Tustin this week, and the thieves remain at large, police announced Friday.
According to a Tustin police statement, an unspecified number of suspects entered the storage warehouse on Wednesday night between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
“Multiple storage lockers were discovered with locks removed and missing gear. An attempt was made to cut a lock to uniform storage, however was unsuccessful. A lock was cut to gain access to a military vehicle parking lot where three Humvees were stolen.”
The three missing Humvees — one of them armored — have “admin numbers” painted on the hood.
Also missing are:
— eight machine gun vehicle mounts;
— seven free-standing machine gun tripods;
— unspecified medical equipment;
— 40 pairs of binoculars; and
— 18 bayonets.
