A third season of Prime Video series Reacher is heading our way this year, and now we have the first official trailer.
Based on the seventh Book in Lee Child’s series of novels, Persuasion, Reacher season 3 will follow the titular character (Alan Ritchson) as he’s thrust into a criminal enterprise while trying to rescue an undercover DEA informant.
In the new trailer (scroll down to watch), we see Reacher taking on a large criminal called Paulie (Olivier Richters). “He’s twice my size,” Reacher tells Neagley (Maria Sten).
We also see glimpses of gunfire and explosions, as Reacher asks: “Exactly how much danger is this job putting me in?”
Alongside returning characters, some of the brand-new stars joining the cast have also been announced, with the likes of Sonya Cassidy and Anthony Michael Hall joining the series.
Ritchson previously told ComicBook.com of season 3: “I can’t say too much about season 3, but I will say there’s a lot of classic Reacher stories which are just adventures that he gets sucked into in a big way.
“And we get to enjoy Reacher in a new world. It may not have anything to do with family, with his past; he’s just living that adventure out, and that’s kind of the direction that we’ve gone, and it seems to really be working.”

Reacher season 3 release date

Back in December 2023, Ritchson confirmed shooting had already kicked off on season 3 in a video.
“You’re on the set of season 3 of Reacher right now,” Ritchson reveals in the behind-the-scenes clip. “We’re officially underway.” Watch below:

Reacher season 3 cast: Who will star?
As for who could be returning for Reacher season 3, we already know that Alan Ritchson will be reprising his role as Jack Reacher, and Maria Sten will be back as Master Sergeant Francis Neagly.
Sonya Cassidy (The Man Who Fell To Earth) will also join the cast of season 3, according to Deadline, and will play “an extremely intelligent and tough DEA agent from Boston with a sharp and sarcastic sense of humor” called Sarah Duffy. Anthony Michael Hall (Bosch: Legacy) has also joined, playing businessman Zachary Beck.
Meanwhile, other additions to the cast include Expats‘ Brian Tee, Gaslit’s Johnny Berchtold, Father Stu’s Roberto Montesinos and For All Mankind‘s Daniel David Stewart, and Black Widow’s Olivier Richters.
Tee will play Quinn, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army that Reacher investigated ten years ago when he sold military secrets to hostile nations. Berchtold will play Richard Beck, a college student and Beck’s only son, who five years ago was kidnapped and mutilated.
Additionally, Montesinos and Stewart will play DEA agents Guillermo Villanueva and Steven Elliot, while Richters has joined the cast as criminal Paulie.
Season 2 saw a whole new cast join the series, as we found out more about Reacher’s military past and enemies – and it seems like season 3 is doing the same, with the new instalment being based on another one of Lee Child’s novels, Persuader.
Speaking to Variety about season 2’s additions to the show, Ritchson said: “The cast of the first season set the bar so impossibly high for any other characters coming into the show.
“It almost feels like there’s a bittersweet betrayal by us enjoying a different adventure. But I think when people see what Reacher is like around his chosen family, they’re going to fall in love for different reasons.”
Ritchson won’t only be returning for season as the series lead, but will also be an executive producer, starting with season 3.
What could Reacher season 3 be about?
Alan Ritchson plays Jack Reacher. Amazon Prime VideoSeason 3 will adapt the fan-favourite Child novel Persuader, which sees Reacher seek revenge for the brutal murder a colleague ten years prior.
To pursue this revenge, Reacher works undercover for the DEA to bring down a suspected drug runner with ties to the man who murdered his colleague.
According to the official synopsis, “In the third season of the action-packed series, Reacher (Alan Ritchson) hurtles into the dark heart of a vast criminal enterprise when trying to rescue an undercover DEA informant whose time is running out.
“There he finds a world of secrecy and violence—and confronts some unfinished business from his own past.”
Reacher season 2 was based on the 11th book in Lee Child‘s series, Bad Luck and Trouble, and kicked off two years after season 1.
