January 5, 2025 (KHARTOUM) – An airstrike killed 10 civilians and wounded 30 others in southern Khartoum on Sunday, activists said, in the third such attack in a month on an area controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The airstrike hit the al-Sahrij station, which the RSF uses as a staging ground, the South al-Hizam Emergency Room said in a statement. The wounded and the bodies of those killed were taken to Bashair Hospital, it said. The Mayo, Waad Hussein Emergency Room in South al-Hizam said al-Sahrij was a busy area where people gathered to shop and work. “The bombing of the station for the third time in less than a month is part of an ongoing escalation campaign, refuting claims that the bombing focuses only on military targets,” it said. The army has intensified air strikes on RSF-controlled areas in Khartoum and other parts of Sudan in recent months, drawing criticism from rights groups and political factions.
