Alabama is losing one of its young linebackers after just 1 season, as true freshman Sterling Dixon is entering the transfer portal, a source told Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports and 247Sports on Saturday afternoon.
Dixon was a top-200 overall recruit from the class of 2024, and now the 6-foot-3, 212-pounder is apparently heading elsewhere to continue his collegiate career. This transfer would hit a little harder, not only because Dixon was a top recruit but also because he’s an in-state kid who was born in Spanish Fort and starred at Spanish Fort High School.

Dixon saw mop-up duty during Alabama’s 2024 season opener against Western Kentucky. He also appeared in games against Missouri and Mercer, and now he’s apparently decided a brief taste at playing football in Tuscaloosa was the only taste he wanted as he seeks greener pastures in 2025.
Auburn and LSU were 2 other programs who were going after Dixon coming out of high school. Both schools made serious pushes despite his commitment to Alabama. LSU’s push for Dixon was earlier in the recruiting cycle, while Auburn went hard after him right before National Signing Day,
