Firefighters work to put out structure fire west of Empower Field ...Middle East

DENVER (KDVR) -- The Denver Fire Department is working to put out a structure fire in what appears to be an abandoned building in the West Colfax neighborhood.

According to the department, there's a structure fire at Hooker Street and Colfax Avenue. This is in a surrounding neighborhood a few blocks to the left of Empower Field at Mile High Stadium.

The department said the building appears to be abandoned, but they are setting up for defense operations. FOX31's Carly Moore is on the scene where paramedics are pulling out stretchers and fire crews are searching the building to make sure no one is inside.
