POLICE REPORTS
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.
FOUND WALLET: A citizen turned in a found wallet to the UPD headquarters at 300 Seminary Ave. at 11:40 a.m. Dec. 26. An officer took a report of found property.
SHOPLIFTER: A caller at Home Depot on North Orchard Avenue reported at 11:59 a.m. Dec. 26 that someone stole tools from the business.
DEATH: An officer responded to the 700 block of South Oak Street at 1:02 p.m. Dec. 26 and took a report of a death.
KIDS SMOKING: Caller in the 700 block of Orr Street reported at 2:07 p.m. Dec. 26 that teens were “smoking an unknown type of drugs in a vehicle.” An officer responded and reported that the “subjects returned home and were counseled.”
STREET LIGHTS MALFUNCTIONING: Caller at 6:10 p.m. Dec. 26 reported that the street lights at Waugh Lane and East Gobbi Street were “not cycling properly.” City electric staff were notified.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: An officer contacted the driver of a suspicious vehicle and arrested the 42-year-old Ukiah resident on suspicion of violating their probation, possessing drug paraphernalia and for operating a motor vehicle without a DUI ignition device. The suspect was booked into county jail and the vehicle was “parked and secured.”
ILLEGAL CAMPING: An officer checking the area of Orr Creek and North Orchard Avenue at 1:24 p.m. Dec. 27 arrested two people on suspicion of illegal camping, a 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman. Both were cited and released.
SHOPLIFTER: A caller at Home Depot on North Orchard Avenue reported at 6:59 p.m. Dec. 27 that someone stole items from the business. An officer responded and arrested a 42-year-old Santa Cruz man for violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.
ILLEGAL CAMPING: Caller in the 200 block of North Orchard Avenue reported at 10:55 a.m. Dec. 30 that a man had a shopping cart. An officer responded and arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of illegal camping and violating his probation. He was cited and released.
PANHANDLER: An officer contacted a panhandler in the 100 block of South Orchard Avenue at 1:44 p.m. Dec. 30, and another panhandler in the 100 block of North Orchard Avenue at 1:50 p.m. Both people were “advised.”
WOMAN WALKING IN FRONT OF CARS: Caller at the corner of East Perkins Street and North Orchard Avenue reported at 5:21 p.m. Dec. 30 that a woman was walking out into traffic. An officer responded and reported that the person was gone.
ILLEGAL CAMPING: An officer contacted a reported trespasser in the 800 block of North Bush Street at 7:37 a.m. Dec. 31 and arrested a 54-year-old Ukiah man on suspicion of illegal camping and trespassing. He was cited and released.
SHOPLIFTER: Caller at Wal-mart on Airport Park Boulevard reported at 6:28 p.m. Dec. 31 that a theft had occurred. An officer responded and reported that the suspect was located and the items returned.
DOG IN ROAD: Caller in the 700 block of South State Street reported at 8:44 p.m. Dec. 31 that a dog was in the roadway. An officer responded and reported that the dog was “collected and secured at the animal shelter.”
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.
DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of McKinley Street at 2:09 a.m. Dec. 26 and arrested Jennifer L. Diamon, 58, of Willits, on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was cited and released to the “care of a responsible party” and the vehicle towed.
DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Walnut Street at 1:57 a.m. Dec. 27 and arrested Deborah Cauwels, 53, of Fort Bragg, on suspicion of driving under the influence. The suspect was cited and released.
RAPE: An officer responded to the 700 block of River Drive at 9:08 a.m. Dec. 31 and took a report of a rape.
Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
