The UC San Diego men’s basketball team won their 10th consecutive game Saturday, beating Occidental 109-51 at home. This is the Tritons longest winning streak since its transition to Division I in 2020.
Tyler McGhie paced the Tritons with 24 points, including a career-high eight three-pointers. McGhie, along with six other players in double figures, notched UC San Diego’s highest-scoring first half since 2020 with a 59-point performance before halftime.
The team finished with just three turnovers, which marked a season low. Head coach Eric Olsen is confident in his team, and thinks they are playing good basketball.
“We certainly understand what’s in front of us,” Olen said postgame. “It’s a challenge every night, but I think our guys understand that. They know how to prepare.”
The 12-2 Tritons will have to wait until the new year for their next matchup. UC San Diego will travel to play Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. PST on ESPN+.
