Capri, who began his career as a stand-up comedian in the '60s with appearances on The Merv Griffin Show and The Ed Sullivan Show, spent one last Christmas with his family before dying in his sleep from a bleeding enlarged aorta on Thursday, Dec. 26.
Capri's son, Jeff, told TMZ that his father knew his life was coming to an end as the aorta had been deemed inoperable due to his age. He spent his final holiday in Florida with his son, daughter-in-law and life partner, FaceTiming out-of-town family members and enjoying food from his favorite restaurant.

According to his official website, Capri's first experiences with comedy came when he worked at his father's grocery store and performed for customers. After he "ran out of characters there," he "left the store to become a full-fledged impressionist and developed the unique comedic style that has become his trademark."
