Like Matt Shaw and Moises Ballesteros before him, Cubs pitcher Ben Brown gets his own mini documentary from Cubs Productions.
The doc is interesting for its background on Brown, and his relentless drive to become a professional, to stay on the mound, and never settle. You instantly get a sense for why he came back so well after Tommy John surgery, why he pushed so hard to get past that oblique injury in 2023, and how frustrating it must’ve been for him to have to sit out half of this season with the neck issue.
There is no real update on that situation, by the way, other than perhaps the seeming reiteration that Brown will have a normal offseason (we’d already known he was cleared). He is clearly a guy who is hungry to get back on the mound for good, and contribute in whatever way he can coming out of Spring Training. It’s TBD what that role will be initially, but if he’s healthy, there’s no reason to believe Brown will not pitch important innings for the big league team in 2025.
