(KRON) – A suspected robber jumped in Lake Merritt to evade officers, according to the Oakland Police Department. Around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oakland PD was dispatched to the 600 block of Bellevue Avenue for the report of a robbery with a deadly weapon. Responding officers learned that a victim was threatened by a suspect who brandished a bladed object at them. Police said the suspect then fled on foot. Oakland police officers later found the suspect in Lake Merritt. OPD said officers commanded the suspect to leave the lake multiple times, but the suspect did not comply.
